Legistaltion

The DCMS introduced the Digital Identity & Attributes Trust Framework, as well as proposing new legislation.  Beneath this is the development of industry specific trust schemes such as MyIdentity, designed specifically for the home buying and selling sector.

The property industry has been working to improve identity verification standards as technology has improved and digital means of identity verification have proved to be more secure and safer than the ‘traditional’ methods of matching a person’s face with their passport.  MyIdentity has been supported right across the sector.

The Government will seek to introduce legislation that will establish a digital identity and attributes governance function.  The intent is to help build a trusted ecosystem in which digital identities can be used safely and securely. The governance function will have oversight of the UK digital identity framework responsible for the issuances of a trust mark to organisations certified against it.
